Logged onto VSOM as administrator and installed the client, ignoring the aforementioned error about vsmc70rt. Opened cmd prompt as Administrator. Installed VLC latest from website. Make sure Mozilla Plugin is installed during installation.

I can’t see myself getting a chance to test Windows 10 any time soon, but if I get the opportunity, I won’t forget to dig up this thread and see where it’s at. I will add that doing this solution doesn’t allow you to look at your archives, only live video, so it isn’t a whole solution, unfortunately.
Aside from the above temporary fix I don’t think there is much other option but to move to 7. Which in our case is not possible as a 3rd party app is not developed for this version. Best to stick to Windows 7 for all necessary clients.
