While this is a good example of a classic thriller yarn, there is a fair bit of back story and family life thrown in which gives quite a good contrast. However, there are a couple of things that put me off slightly: 1. The fairly heavy-handed treatment of the Turkish authority figures on Cyprus, who are quite cartoonish and one dimensional.
The author clearly has his mind made up about the right and wrong of that situation, but it just seemed a bit over the top to me.
Some repeated phrases and situations from the first book. Nothing major, but a couple of incidental dialogue lines and at least one scene were pretty much copied directly from the first book. That’s just lazy. I did enjoy this, but think it could do with a bit more polish. Better than the first book, which was not bad, this one gets you in to the action and keeps it going.
Love that the main character is now married with a baby daughter. The story mixes domesticity with out and out action that will keep you reading to the very end. This is the third book I’ve read by this author and can thoroughly recommend his work. The Collectors themselves are beautifully drawn collector grade publications book full circle free and their relationship makes an attractive backdrop to all the action and adventure. I didn’t find this book anywhere near as good as his others.
Maybe because he used the same location for the ‘collection’ as the previous book, but still worth a read. Enjoyed the thrills and spills. These two guys get in and out of trouble and make it seem fun.
